Anna Stepanova

My Story

I’m Anna Stepanova, founder of Krokus. I grew up in Ukraine and have worked for more than ten years as a journalist and communications specialist on social and security topics – Ukraine, Eastern Europe and security policy above all.

Reporting in Germany and abroad, including in Ukraine, has kept me close to geopolitical developments and what they mean for ordinary households. In 2015 I also completed a Bundeswehr training for deployments in crisis and conflict zones.

Since April 2026 I’ve been part of the 18th cohort of the HHL Gründerinnen-Initiative, building Krokus: private crisis preparedness that feels calm, not alarming. The first emergency kit you don’t have to hide – packed by hand, first batch.
